A curly hair specialist, educator, and founder based in Winnipeg — on a mission to help people fall in love with the hair they were born with.
Long before I became a curly hair specialist, I was just another girl trying to figure out what to do with her curls.
Growing up, I had a complicated relationship with my natural hair. Like many people with textured hair, I didn't always see it as beautiful. I often wished it was straighter, easier to manage, and more like everyone else's.
Ironically, the person who loved my curls the most was my mom.
From the time I was little, she always encouraged me to wear my hair naturally. She rarely let me straighten it and constantly reminded me how beautiful my curls were, even when I couldn't see it myself. Looking back, she was protecting something I didn't yet understand how to appreciate. To this day, she's still my biggest supporter — and the person who encouraged me to pursue cosmetology school.
In 2021, I enrolled at Aveda Institute with one goal in mind: to specialize in textured hair.
At the time, there were very few curl specialists in Winnipeg, and I knew there was a real need for someone dedicated to curls, coils, and waves.
That same year, I joined Hairology Studio under the mentorship of Josie Vilay. As the salon's curly hair specialist, I quickly built a loyal clientele — and every appointment reinforced that my purpose wasn't just to style hair. It was to help people understand, embrace, and feel confident in their natural texture.
For three years, I posted before anyone was watching.
While attending Aveda, I began sharing my work on social media. For three years, I consistently posted educational content, client transformations, and styling techniques before my content started reaching a larger audience.
Today, that passion has grown into a community of over 500,000 followers across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube — where I continue to educate people around the world on healthy hair and textured hair care.
